The University of Education Karlsruhe only processes personal data where this is permitted by law or provided that the user has consented to the processing of the data. Personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (data subject).

The legal basis for data protection is provided by Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR), the State Data Protection Act (Landesdatenschutzgesetz, LDSG), the Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, BDSG) and the German Teleservices Act (Telemediengesetz, TMG).

The website of the university uses session and temporary cookies.

A cookie is a text file that is sent when visiting the website and that is temporarily stored on the user's hard drive. When the website is accessed again, the cookie is sent back to the server by the browser of the website. This allows the server to evaluate the information obtained as a result of this procedure, e.g. for the purpose of facilitating navigation on the website. Every time a web page of the university is accessed and every time a file is retrieved, the following data is logged and analysed for statistical and troubleshooting purposes:

• HTTPS status code
• Quantity of transmitted data (in bytes)

Any evaluations relating to individual persons on the basis of this data are excluded.

We take state-of-the-art organisational and technical measures to ensure that the provisions of the applying data protection laws and regulations are complied with and to protect the data we process against accidental or intentional manipulation, loss, destruction or access by unauthorised persons.

These security measures include, in particular, the encrypted transmission of data between your browser and our server.

No user data is collected by the website's internal search function (i.e., when you use the magnifying glass icon).

If you contact us by e-mail, the University of Education Karlsruhe will only use your data to get in touch with you. Any other use of your contact details is excluded.

As a user, you can request to be informed, free of charge, about the personal data stored about you. Unless your request conflicts with a legal obligation to store data (e.g. data retention), you have a right to have incorrect data corrected and/or completed and to have your personal data blocked or deleted.

The university's website uses the open-source web analysis service "Matomo".The cookies used by Matomo enable an analysis of the usage behaviour of our website visitors. The IP address of the website visitor is anonymised before being stored on the server. Any evaluations relating to an individual person are excluded. If you do not agree to the storage and analysis of the data collected during your session, you can object to the storage and use of this data at any time by clicking on the following link. In this case, a so-called opt-out cookie will be stored in your browser, which means that Matomo will not collect any session data.
